June 2011
During 2008, Pac Paper created a Green Team with the goal of working towards one of Pac Paper’s core values of being a responsible member of the communities in which we operate and serve. The Green Team initiatives highlighted below have helped Pac Paper improve its community stewardship, and have enhanced our ability to do MORE, BETTER, with LESS.
Chain-of-Custody Certification: In 2009, Pac Paper acquired chain-of-custody certifications from the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI®) and the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC TM). Pac Paper now offers paper with peace of mind that satisfies various industrial, print, and food service end-user sustainability initiatives.
Landfill Use: An aggressive recycling program was implemented to capture office papers and waste associated with manufacturing – including poly and metal.

Electrical Consumption: Pac Paper implemented more efficient equipment and processes in manufacturing and office spaces to capture greener technology. These investments resulted in significant reductions in kilowatts required to convert paper.

By any measure, these efforts have been very successful. We appreciate you as our customer, and as such, we enjoy sharing good news with you. Thank you for continuing to trust Pac Paper with your customers’ needs and demands.
Pac Paper Inc., Leading Manufacturer of Java Jackets® Insulating Coffee Sleeves
VANCOUVER, Wash. – May 18, 2011 – Leading Pacific Northwest-based paper converter, Pac Paper Inc., recently announced unusually high demand for one of its most recognized paper products – Java Jackets®. Pac Paper is the original manufacturer of the insulating coffee cup sleeve that revolutionized thermal protection of hot paper cups.
Java Jacket® coffee cup sleeves have become as much a statement of style as function. The one-size green coffee sleeve fits 12 ounce, 16 ounce, and 20 ounce paper cups. Pac Paper can custom print Java Jacket® and use various grades of paper as well.
The patented, embossed nubbins on the Java Jackets® themselves allow air to cushion between the hot cup surface and the sleeve. Adding a bead of “one-hand pop” heat-activated glue to the inside ensures the sleeve will not slip off the cup or get stuck in cup holders.
“We’re very pleased at the increased popularity of the Java Jackets®,” says David Morgan, Vice President of Sales & Marketing. “Who knew when Jay Sorenson invented the Java Jacket® that they would become such a widely used and functional product for everyone from large, national quick service restaurants to your local corner coffee shop.”
Made from recycled paper, Java Jackets® are offered in natural or white finishes. In addition, specialty Java Jacket® orders are available, including custom printing with company logos or special marketing message.
